Coconut & Sambal, recipes from my Indonesian kitchen by Lara Lee

Coconut and Sambal is a new Indonesian Cookery book from Lara lee.

Lara is new to us but we were really excited to see this book. We at Netherton Foundry love Indonesian food despite not having been there yet. In fact our first introduction to this cuisine was improbably on the Dutch island of Texel about 20 years ago on a family holiday, the local Indonesian restaurant was definitely the best food on the island!

You'll find the important staples such as Chicken Nasi Goreng, however that's really only the start.  There are chapters on Savoury snacks, Vegetables, Tofu and tempeh, Meat, poultry and egg recipes and importantly Sambal, the essential Indonesian hot condiment, plus lots of history and background.

We were pleased to see Lara using our Netherton Foundry 13 inch Sun Iron Wok for her Tumis Kankung, fragant stir-fried morning glory.

And if you have a sweet tooth, you will be inspired by her wok recipe, Kue Perut Ayam, Indonesian Cinnamon Doughnuts.

I'm sure you will want to know more about Lara.  Well you can now. She's recently been interviewed by Jay Rayner on BBC Radio Four's 'The Kitchen Cabinet, another Netherton favourite. Click on the arrow in the picture below to listen:
