Nigella cookbook honour for Shropshire firm

A tiny Shropshire company that makes some of the world’s best pots and pans has taken a starring role in the new book by celebrity chef Nigella Lawson.

Netherton Foundy, which is based at Highley, supplied pans for the book and they were used by the TV star.

The Shropshire company, which is run by husband and wife team Sue and Neil Currie, features in three photographs in the book and is listed in the acknowledgements.

Ms Lawson has sent them a signed copy of her book, by way of a thank you.

Today Mrs Currie said she was delighted that Netherton Foundry’s name was reaching a new audience.

She said: “It’s thrilling. To be endorsed by one of the biggest celebrity chefs in Britain and America is a real feather in our cap. We couldn’t be happier. Our pans are prominently featured on three of the pages and we’re listed in the back, too. It’s great.”

The company, launched in 2011, says it sources most of its raw materials in Shropshire and makes artisan cookware using local oak handles

The company launched in 2011 and already sells pans all over the world. It has strong links with local chefs and developed a range of woks for well-known Shrewsbury chef Chris Burt and a range of bread tins for Ludlow baker Robert Swift.

Ms Lawson’s new book is called Simply Nigella and it hits the shelves on October 8.
