Paco Tapas: Netherton Foundry night out in Bristol

 
Good friends and good food are both worth travelling for. Last Saturday (16.6.24) a group of friends travelled from Shropshire, Manchester, London and just over the river Avon to visit Paco Tapas in Bristol. As the last of us leaves our university city we decided to celebrate his birthday with a trip to a restaurant we had been wanting to visit since we first arrived in the city.
 
 
Netherton Foundry has known Peter Sanchez-Iglesias for over 5 years now, so we were very excited to share now only his incredible food but also his wonderful hospitality with our friends. It was beyond worth the wait, and beyond all expectations.

We were treated to tapas that transported us across the continent from a very rainy evening in Bristol to the glow of sunshine in Spain. The magic of the food came from its simplicity. We started with bread, olive oil and marinated red peppers, and from here we realised that this was Tapas unlike any that we had ever tried.
The dishes kept coming; padron peppers, patatas bravas, tortilla española, smoked almonds and devilled corn on the cob. By unanimous decision the favourite was the Ensalada de Tomate, a dish we all agreed wouldn’t have thought to order, but is the reason we will all be going back. We raved about this tomato salad to anyone who would listen for the rest of the night, a dish that would bring us all back to Bristol time and time again.
 
 
Not only was the food divine, we were treated like family, the staff took the time to explain each dish to us in detail, even coming back to tell us when we wanted to hear it again. 
 
 
To Pete and all the staff we met at Paco Tapas thank you for a truly unforgettable night and making Dean’s birthday so special.
